What would you change if you could?

Reflecting on my family travel blog ambitions tonight.

My first mission is to identify five aspects I would like to change or improve. The site is Away Is Home if you'd like to make some suggestions in the comments box.

It is truly a work in progress with some structure changes in the works, including a new logo. Should I focus on layout and appearance or making it more interactive? Maybe look at ways to build communities to draw visitors and keep them coming back? Opportunities for collaboration and partnerships are also possible.

In my mind the site really should represent a team of people that share interests and help plan our daily trips, sound off on what we are doing in real time and give us feedback on how we share our experiences while sharing their own. But many more people will come just to watch as we go through the process to see our struggles, achievements, changes, tensions and interests all posted online.

Now how do I fit that on the internet?

BP1_Welcome to my blog

Have you ever thought, "Gee, I always wanted to do that?" Or, have you had an idea but when you shared it with friends, family or your boss they said, "You can't do that!?" Or, "That will never happen!"

Me too.

But here, at this blog, we're going say the sky is the limit and anything is possible if you can imagine it. Would you like to try?

I'll start.

I want to share the world with my family. (That's three kids ages 4, 6 and 9 plus Dad. Chris gets touchy when I refer to him as my fourth child.) So we're planning a road trip across the USA and hoping to live for a few weeks in a handful of different communities slowly moving state-to-state.

Oh, and you'll get to come too. If not in the car, then through our family blog.

Now it's your turn.

What would you like to imagine? Post it in the comments and we can imagine together.

We can encourage each other and share our thoughts and ideas with others who may also have insights and experiences that will help us realize our goal. More importantly they will help us when we get stuck in life's potholes and may help us avoid those traps all together.

So, are you with me? Whether on the journey with my family or with feedback on this site I hope that we can work together. After all it’s not the destination or the journey but who you bring along that can make or break a trip.
